an Exxon business owner (and shockingly an American ) is complaining about a boycott of Exxon starting in Texas and by Texas leaders (judges, councilman, etc.). the owner said the execs of Exxon won't be affected by a boycott just the local businesses.

duuuuhhh... then you need to get off your ass and contact the Exxon execs and help resolve the pricing problem, or else face the consequences. and duuuuuh... if you're out of business, Exxon makes no more money locally.

and if I know I'm gonna be boycotted, as in make no money, I'd start selling at cost, not the price gouging cost. something is better than nothing!

I kinda feel sorry for the people who run the local stations they are only getting 3 cent per gallon for profit. They make their money when we come in and buy a soda or something the fact that the gas is so high is messing up their money from there. So I really cant blame them cause how can they charge us cost when they have to eat too.

well, gas won't spoil. so I guess it could sit there until they're able to sell it. but that would be a double loss if it doesn't for a while.

because say no one purchased anything. the money spent on stocking up gas is a complete loss. therefore, why not get their money back for that cost by selling it at cost if they're going to fail from a boycott. it would be really bad to fail w/a stockpile of gas that won't move.

man, what are these guys smoking? ok, hopefully people will steal more of it. but it could be worse, in Japan it's 6.00+ a gallon

Exxon CEO: Use less of our stuff
Says there is little lawmakers can do to bring down gas prices; must work on supply and demand.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Exxon chief executive Rex Tillerson said Tuesday there is little lawmakers can do to combat rising energy costs and urged consumers to reduce demand by using less.

"We just have to ask people to make sure they are using energy wisely," Tillerson told CNN after a meeting with congressmen in Washington. "Be efficient with it, don't waste it."

He said Exxon, for its part, was investing $20 billion over the next five years to develop new sources of energy.

"[We're] developing supply from all over the world, including a lot of investment in this country and some new developments. And, you know, all of that is directed at trying to address the tightness in the supply situation.

"There's not anything that can be done that is going to change this situation overnight," he said. "It's all about supply and demand fundamentals."

Tillerson was called to Washington to discuss high gas prices with members of Congress, including House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

Tillerson said he didn't feel the government was unfairly picking on Exxon.

"We are the largest American oil company. We're very global, you know, we are large, a huge investor around the world in developing new supply and it's, you know, it's only natural that people are gonna want to know what we think about things," he said
