I heard this story a few months ago and upon hearing it then, it was devastating. and glad to hear invisiblechildren.com is getting global focus finally now that they've appeared on Oprah.
just glad to hear folks here are getting more involved and making a difference.
shocked but not shocked to hear, "but that's Africa" when telling people in the U.S. about the situation. I guess that assumption is the result of our media, more focus on Paris Hilton, less focus on human suffering.

it's sad because it's the equivalent of any of holocaust in history, but race is playing a factor. and if you get a chance to catch Real Time w/Bill Maher this week, you'll see a great interview w/George Clooney.
Clooney mentioned that if the media spent equally as much coverage on this problem as it does w/Natalee Holloway, more could be done. because he's right, Natalee Holloway is just 1 person which affects 1 family. this is an entire country.
so since the media is gonna follow celebs around, then celebs are gonna use that to bring media attention to serious issues.
