The book's message is still true. It's another smoke screen story to get people to forget about real issues such as Alito's confirmation or Iran.

Cool.

I caught the tail end of AC 360 on CNN the other nite and they were discussing that other patients from the clinic came forward and were saying things like "That doesn't happen during detox" or "they don't act like that in rehab" yada yada yada. James Frey issued a statement saying that every person has a different experience in rehab and the things he wrote about happened to him.

Boy... seems like anyone and everyone wants to come forward and pick this guy, literally, into a million little pieces.

yeah and make a little money as well of the story. whatever is popular, people jump on. and most definitely controversy sells.

wow, seems like the media has been repeatedly challenging Oprah's credibility since this story broke. and now looks like Oprah may be distancing herself a bit.

one CNN newscaster (I wish I could remember the trick's name) claimed when story first broke: Oprah's recommendations are now on the line - as if to suggest don't buy any more books she recommends.

now let a friend of that same newscaster come out w/a book, they'll be sending multiple copies to Oprah to review.

people are a trip. they ride what's hot and then wait for something to fall out and then ride that train until the next hot thing comes along. when did people forget how to make up their own mind and draw their own conclusions?

Still, tho, it's just A BOOK.

No one is asking it to be a textbook that dictates history or anything like that.
And many people have commented that it has helped them with their addictions. Isn't that the point????

ALSO: could you imagine going thru weeks of Detox hell and a detox haze and try to recall every single detail exactly how it happened???

Puh-leeze.

well Oprah has him on the hotseat and she's being as direct as possible. "I feel as if yu deceived me" and asking specific questions where he admits he lies.

the dentist situation (w/out novacaine) he's just confirmed may not have happened that way - there's no record of it.

details on the smokinggun.com he clarified as accurate, as in the amount of time spent in jail is accurate.

oh and now the question of "does Lilly exist" is an issue.

I've never read the book (surprise, surprise :d) but I heard all the buzz about it.

I find it interesting that he never mentions specific locales in his books, just vague physical references.

For instance, in his 2nd book, he's living in Chicago on a street that greets you with 2 huge steel giraffes when you walk out the door. This I know right where it is b/c I live 2 blocks from them. But he never specifies what neighborhood he's in - chicago is a big city, you define areas by names.

Secondly, he is always going to visit Lilly's grave, but gives no reference to where it is at, doesn;'t even give any particular descriptors of the cemetery.

Also, he describes a halfway house in Chicago that she is staying at and he actually DOES give the cross-streets, and Umm... it's in the Gold Coast, where there would NO WAY be a halfway house.

So to me, some of those things are just kinda weird to me. But in any biography, there is usually a disclaimer that "certain names and places have been modified... blah blah blah.."

I'm not going to psychoanalyze the book... I liked it, it was a good read. I'd recommend it even if it were straight up fiction.

Did I read right???? The Rock????

he's so wonderful to look at. Read his book "The Rock Says". There is a funny tidbit in there about how he got busted while he became a man.
