definition of oracle

Post by Hmph »

seeing the oracle name made me wonder about the definition of the oracle which I thought was an all knowing, wise person of character. so I looked up the definition and check it out:
or·a·cle
Pronunciation Key (ôr-kl, r-)
n.

1.
1. A shrine consecrated to the worship and consultation of a prophetic deity, as that of Apollo at Delphi.
2. A person, such as a priestess, through whom a deity is held to respond when consulted.
3. The response given through such a medium, often in the form of an enigmatic statement or allegory.

2.
1. A person considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic opinions.
2. An authoritative or wise statement or prediction.
3. A command or revelation from God.
4. In the Bible, the sanctuary of the Temple.
:hm: pretty interesting

but I guess it's just a cute name in some cases, w/no relation to the meaning.

I've read Oracle's posts at other boards...she's definitely a wise one!

Dangerously Witty too, so be on the lookout :d

More like a dangerous racist in disguise. Only thing to be on the lookout for is mouthing off without having sufficient information.

I'm Jewish and was insulted by their ignorant posts and lack of his or her own history.

The most priceless and "witty" was the comment about Rodney King ruining someone's life. I hope he or whoever they are was not referring to the four officers beating an unarmed man repeatedly.

are you sure it's the same Oracle? because I have my doubts for several reasons, specifically 11 of them.

their 11 posts and overly dramatic behavior today, which was far from "wise" or "all knowing"

i did a search for Oracle posts and could not find any but it is oracle as her profile says she lives in pasadena and surrounding deser area. oracle is a very smart lady and funny if you do not know her of course if 11 different people are posting under her name who is she? you may like one of the joke she sent to me. I have a brother in law who is a retired urologist who is a doctor who works on plumbing of the human body, mostly men. She says the definition of a urologist is a prick on one end of a tube connected to anothe prick.   She would not tell me the definition of a GYN as it was to gross but i bet it was good. I believe her to be a radiologist by the clues I have received fom diferent posts of her. She taught me that you can adopt a Mother if you do not like yours so i have adopted her as my mother as I lost mine 59 years ago.,
