I have actually read articles and books on the subject. I may not agree with their approach of presenting these children as choosen ones, however I do believe more "gifted" children are being born daily.
From an evolution standpoint, it is only natural that at some point in time we have milestones whereby children are born with greater intelligence and "gifts" or abilities that the children from previous generations did not have.
I for one believe it and think of it this way: back in the day when people did not have the ability for advanced speech or any type of an advanced dilect, the first children born with such an ability were probably ridiculed. People naturally fear and ridicule that which they do not understand, or have not / cannot personally experience.
Anyone ever see the movie X-men? They speak of "mutants" which are nothing more than humans born with extra genes that give them gifts or abilities not common to others, commonly referred to as "homosuperior". Perhaps this is the first signs of such an evolution.
Also take it from this perspective: it is a fact that the average human being only uses up to 12% of their total brain capacity, leaving 88% untapped at this stage in our evolution. Ten thousand years ago, they only used about 4-6% total capacity. It has been a scientifically proven fact that individuals who are psychically gifted, use a higher percentage of their brain capacity than the average person. One such study indicated averaging 15% for gifted individuals.
So there is 88% of our brains which we do not know how to use yet. How egotistical and naive are we to assume that what are called "gifted individuals", or indigo children born into these gifts, is not possible. Why? Because it goes against some religious beliefs? Because noone you know has such gifts?
That is as ignorant and naive a statement, as seeing only 12% of a movie and claiming you know exactly how the rest will turn out.
Bet you didn't expect that response from me, did ya?
