10-Year-Old Girl Killed At Bronx Block Party

NEW YORK - A neighborhood block party in the Bronx ended tragically Monday night when a shooting broke out and a 10-year-old girl was killed, police said. Naisha Pearson, 10, was apparently hit by a stray bullet in the chest, police said. She stumbled out of the park at 139th Street and Willis Avenue and collapsed on the sidewalk at about 8:45 p.m.

A 19-year-old man who was targeted by the shooter was hit five times and was listed in serious condition, police said.

Police said residents chased down the gunman. Officers had to struggle with residents to get the shooter into custody, police said.

No other names were immediately released.

The cause of the shooting was said to be an argument between two young men.
