Da Vinci Code

Good and not so good books read. Books to be released and books to get. Books better suited for kindling or cigarette paper. Yup you guessed it, all about books....

Da Vinci Code

Post by miltie »

Thanks for the new thread, Tamra!

After all the hype, I finally decided I would buy this book. What a great book it has been so far! I haven't finished it just yet, but have been very intrigued thus far and have a hard time putting it down once I'm entranced by it.

If anyone wants to discuss it, let's chat! There is a lot of fact coupled with a lot of fiction in this book. I'm still trying to sort out which is which, but would be interested in others' insight.

Just please don't give away the ending yet as I haven't quite finished it. :)

what is this book about? I've heard a lot of buzz talk about it, but never saw/read anything about it.

LOL and thanks hial

sounds interesting, but I have to wonder about stuff like that when the real name of the Messiah isn't used. because in order to provide something historical or related you have to understand the origin, including of the original area. I learned so much in past few years simply by reading the begats in Genesis and referring to the map in back of bible. as well as learned alot by studying a little aramaic. so many things have been translated improperly, but even that's stated would happen in original aramaic scriptures

100 pages left to go, HIAL!

There are many facets to the book: murder, conspiracy, catholicism, secrets of the church, secrets of the holy grail, etc.

The main focus is on a secret group called the Priory of Sion which has been around for hundreds of years (in real life, it's speculated to be a real society) whose main purpose is to protect the secret of the holy grail and is also considered to be paganistic by the Catholics.

The other focus is on a Catholic Sect called Opus Dei (which is a true group in real life, which takes their faith to the extreme and I am surprised Catholics acknowledge them). In the Book, Opus Dei is trying to find the Priory of Sion so they can stop them from uncovering the holy grail and exposing its secrets, which could re-write the history of the Church as we've known it.

It takes place in modern day and is quite intriguing!

and much of that doesn't surprise me. given the richest organized religion, there are many things the catholic church or many churches won't tell people :sigh: and I'm catholic, so when I asked some questions to a priest on east coast, the answer was almost shocking. but in New Orleans, a lot different as in priests are more aware of history and other non-Catholic things -- the idea is to gather info and think, and not be brainwashed.

but book sounds deep, PM me the ending when you're done hehe I doubt I'll have time to read it soon, but would be worth reading it later for comparison to stuff already heard.
