only 5 black U.S. Senators EVER in history

Post by Hmph »

black senators throughout history:

Barack Obama, the newly elected senator from Illinois, is currently the only Black senator. He is the third Black senator since Reconstruction - the other two being Carole Moseley Braun and Edward Brooke.

there were also two Black senators elected during the post civil war reconstruction. they were Hiram Rhoades Revels and Blanche K. Bruce, both from Mississippi.

and again, this is the group which approved slavery, approved making runaway slaves fugitives, did nothing about segregation while taxing blacks for unequal treatment, civil rights and lynchings, or even apologized.

hey I wish I was making this stuff up, but history and hatred speaks for itself openly w/in politics - those who lead who set the tone.

however, things were not this way prior to the St. Tammany/5 Points invasion of NY w/european immigrants and before British led slave trade.

under Dutch rule blacks had equal rights, and could even sue in court and were protected by laws in free states. that all went away under British slave rule after defeating the Dutch. and future lawmakers (newly arriving european immigrants and their descendants) were pro-slavery.

I have always wondered why Blacks hug the Democratic party so much. We all should be Republicans(Lincoln was one of the first ones) or Independents at least until they say hey sorry for putting in the constitution(look under the tax sections) that your men are only 1/3 of a person forget your women and children they are worth less than that. I have a link to that somewhere but I'm getting sleepy. I'll post it when I wake up.

the republican party of today is not the same as the republican party of Lincoln's era. the republican party of today is mostly synonymous with the klan which was formed after the Civil War to keep blacks in line and black men away from their "saintly" white women as they put it.

the independent party is probably more like the pre-Civil War republican party

Thats true but I want to know what happened to make the Democratic party look so good to us. Oh yea here is that link I promised.http://www.house.gov/house/Constitution ... ution.html And its not the tax section its the section on how many representatives each state gets.
Clause 3: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. (See Note 2) The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the State of New Hampshire shall be entitled to chuse three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New-York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five, and Georgia three.

there are quite a few black representatives. but when it comes to senators, it's still a plantation. however, Obama is no house negro in that situation.
