Well, lately I find that my computer skills are somewhat lacking in certain areas...would anyone know a good way to learn some perl/php? Some website, book, or relatively cheap software I could get to help me out? Looking to broaden my skills a bit...
(Now I know I could probably google it and find something, but that takes too much time and I'm lazy cause its hot so )

well why you're learning php, you should check out mysql because they kinda go hand in hand, but the best books can be found at:

you'll be likely to find an author or two there to talk to as well.

now perl/cgi is something that I just picked up bits and pieces since the 90's, but never had a complete book but used references online or via unix command line. it's kind of like if you know c, you can pretty much figure out perl and scripting, just have to know what's specific to perl when building your statements. -- but you'll still need a comprehensive reference book for commands and syntax

but good php/mysql books are available by author larry ullman as well as
Beginning PHP 5 and MySQL - by W. Jason Gilmore

not everyone is using php 5 yet, so you should get a php 4 and up type book so that you're aware of some limitations of both.
