welI don't know what part of Cali u live in, but black men/white women is so common, I stopped noticing. In fact, it was so common 24/7 when I saw a black man with a black woman, I had to do a double take because first thing on my mind was "how'd that happen?" at first it was shocking moving there from the south. then it was like an overall not caring because of values in general which weren't race related, which brings me back to original point: should people care given they don't know the person's value system at all?

but given race relations in U.S. I guess there will always be animosity either way. now to deal with it proactively instead of being "ignant", and that goes both ways. because nothing worse than hearing a person put down their own heritage to justify dating exclusively another race. and even that goes both ways from both the man and woman involved.

like in the Kobe Bryant case, many focused on race, but the callous way he committed adultery was more shocking to me. said a lot about his level of integrity and value system.

I guess you're referring to me; not Marcus. I'm in San Diego. And a black man/white women is extremely common-place. More than any other city in California that I've been to. You add the Mexico border and .. that's another story. Amazing though, even though San Diego county is highly conservative, the social life is highly incompatible with governmental dictates; so don't get into trouble lol

Now, you lost me here. I 'll tell you why: speaking of Kobe's level of integrity and value system. First of all, I have no freakin idea why Kobe would marry in his early 20's. Nor Vanessa, as a teen. It's unbelievable, to me, that any man or woman would do this. I'm no longer in my 20's and i almost got married in my 20's. For a married man in his 20's, the temptations out there are so incredible that one can wonder what drugs or alcohol the man was on when he "decided" to get hitched. Maybe the woman is more intelligent about what she does, openly or secretly, as a young married women. Or a married woman in general. Most couples in their 20's that I know have divorced before they reached 30. One person has the major custody of the kids; but both will get their groove on at the local night club soon enough. Picking up where they left off. Heck, I know some "kids" who moved back into their parents house and reclaimed their old childhood beds, once again. So what integrity? What value system? To test one's monogomous value system or faith in one's 20's is an uphill virtue. But, look out, we're going to get tested. Since Kobe is young-and like most 20 something-largely stupid in hormonal matters- we got to forgive him. There's no other way in the mistake-ridden world of our youth. Most of us don't get out of adolescence anyway until our 30's. I never fooled myself about that. There is no cure for adolescence. That's one of the things in the stages of life we have to accept in a post industrial society. Some people learn the hard way, I know. It's enough that I hear married couples that i know talk about the temptations that they go through from time to time. Probably the best age to get married, with a workable system of values intact, may be 45.

 are you saying that age limits some from having a value system or respect for something they've committed to, which involves another person's feelings (their spouse)? and are you saying that a man only respects marriage/commitment until he's older?

 explain men prior to the 70's :wait: because many were married at 16 or 17, lived and died with same woman. they're not blind, they're gonna look, everyone looks, but they had enough respect to not touch. or dayum  at least not have it make national news only to find out there's other women set up in several cities just for sex. yet, stood before God, family and friends and recited marrital vows. because I have to wonder if Nessa would have said "yes" to marriage knowing these things about Kobe beforehand. and let's just pretend Kobe was broke, I'm sure she'd have kept it moving

Hi. First of all, I know the subject matter is about interracial. And I know I made my points about that. Value systems conversation appears to be a progression in the mix of interraial viewpoints, but the marriage prior to the 70's is another matter to answer and a "battle of the sexes" could erupt from my viewpoint-possible. I'm going to refrain from being drawn into that one or if that is NOT your intent, nevertheless, my comments are murred on that subject matter.

I mentioned older, not only for a man,but also a woman. Why anyone can go all the way back to the studies of child development, like from Piaget and others and see, that they shockingly think that a good age for education is 37. Though we largely cant do that. (Now we can in the dum down era). Stand to reason, that one is not going to get a thought through system of values-for many, either men or woman-until education is taken seriously. You know that young girls are into their physical self and sex. Heck, what come out of their mouths on the Net? Not ALL of course. But largely. Hormones rules! Now when i talk to a woman over 40, it's definitely a different stage from life. A long distance from the 20 something mentality. So its not just men only. Women, too. Men are more aggressive and assertive, on the whole and that's psychobio. Since we're out there, it's easy to judge. When a woman is "caught," She may say "I'm sorry" and her case wont' hit the "judgement column. But, uh, don't we live in a double standard society?

I agree w/you 100% that Vanessa would have kept moving. I'm sure her mommy told her something like, "baby, you hit the lottery. "Now, I think you're not totally up on Kobe's background before he got hitched, else you would know "why" he makes today around $25 mil a year in endorsments contracts. Kobe had a squeaky clean image. While the Lakers ho chased from town to town before Kobe was married, he would sit in his hotel room, alone. He had little or no part in it. So, he wasn't popular because he was not "one of the guys." He was known to be too faithful to one girl at a time before marriage. A loner. A rising superstar, getting married because he's sure of himself?? Looks great to endorsers! Interesting enough, I know married guys who was the same way@faithful to g/f's before marriage. (Their lives are private and I respect that. Won't go further into that). And they can relate to Kobe quite well. Now, after Kobe married, things changed. Marriage is big decision, but hoes on top of hoes will play married guys, like a challenge ,anyway. Kobe's a kid. What he thought he knew about himself, his integrity, is tested in life. The girls looks good, he's lonely on the road. But anybody can fall into temptation. I'm prior Navy. Been overseas. One learn things. And one learns to shut the "f" up, if it's not your life. Now, Kobe started hoe monging like some of the other ball players. He spurged and took advantage of his King Superstar status with the hoes that that threw himself at him. I went to a Lakers game this season. It's amazing how so many girls, from elemtary school age to 40 something were Kobe crazy!. I even tried to get into a Laker's practice to watch the team. (No public allowed). Hoe's followed me, yeah, like i knew how to get in.

Ending, I think a good thing that happened to Kobe in the K-Ho nightmare was that he met Pam Mackey. There is no doubt in my mind, that this lady & attorney taught him something. Maybe about "values", as well, as cultural literacy. Thing may make more sense now. Black man beware, too. He may still be the same, but the roots are planted by her. Don't think he doesn't appreciate that. After all, she's still Kobe's civil suit. Though she's a crimininal attorney. Yes, more cash for her. But, she etched some things in his head. too. I call this a man's intuition. But I have no doubt about what's she's done for him. He has an incredible gift by the Cosmic. I don't think he would have such a gift if God or the Comoes didn't think he was deserving.

Wow! What a response! And all I wanted to do was take Tyra and/or Beyonce home to meet my Momma (yeah, I'd TRY to take both of 'em at the same time, but as an old dude, I wouldn't survive the experience...... BUT WHAT A WAY TO GO!! :lmfao: )
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today... it's already tomorrow in Australia.

A little confused and a lot off topic

actually that was the primary point of topic: should people be focused on race or value system. as in case of Swanti, she says other women get upset with her because of who she's around, yet the persons "hating" focus solely on race, yet don't know anything about either's value system, as in guy she's with, even if just a friend, may not even be their personality type.

I don't understand any of this  or the last part either. maybe it's all related to another topic?

but anyway thanks for throwing out lots of eye-opening and interesting things on this topic. I think we understand how complicated this topic can be for many.

Alrighty, its story time! A couple years ago I was dating this black girl that I used to work with. And I had this friend, who was a white girl, that I had known for quite some time, as a friend who I had never dated. Now this girl that I was dating, was sending me some mixed signals...at first she wanted to be "just friends" so I was like whatever. Meanwhile, my friend called me up and said she had an extra ticket to this concert, so I went. I also went with her to see a movie (Bad Boys 2) a couple weeks later...since I figured that the girl I was supposed "dating" wanted to be "just friends" with me. The funny thing is, as soon as I TOLD her about my friend and that I went to the concert and movie, and that we were JUST FRIENDS. She started trippin! I'm just like, "Now wait a minute, YOU are the one that said you just wanted to be friends" And then she suddenly wanted to be more "exclusive"...you women are nuts sometimes I swear...
Now granted I'm not certain whether that was just plain jealousy or racial jealousy but either way, it was still pretty messed up.

Anyways, I know that was a tad off topic, but my point is, it shouldn't matter who you date, what race they are, or how much money you both have...as long as you like the person for the PERSON and not anything else it shouldn't matter.

naah, doubt race, because it sounds like she wanted to string you along until she figured out what she wanted, and then for you to guess daily. the old, don't want him until he has someone else routine. but if it was race, then you got spared, how silly was that.

between 2 of them, both should have made it clear what was up, even other girl who asked you out while you were dating someone. sometimes that "I want him to figure it out" stuff doesn't work.

and women crazy? naaah? what gives you that idea? :eh:
:P we are the most sane and rational creatures on the face of the earth.

take our shoe buying process. it makes sense -- COMPLETE SENSE. it's just you guys that can't figure it out. :neva:

RangerBob wrote:What about poor white men with rich black women? As a poor white dude, if I could just convince Beyonce or Tyra of just how right it would be... :sigh:
:lmfao: Yanno Ranger. How come that isn't represented? If I see Tyra I'll try to hook you up. But don't think you want to try the Beyonce thing. Jay Z may want to see you and I dont mean to talk.

This lil topic has gone in all directions and couldn't read it all. But I see what you're saying Tam. Focus on values first then you won't be so worried about physical appearance of couple. Either could be scum of the earth. Or two dingy people

But I do know people get vocal in street and still stare at interracial couples as if something on display at museum.

And King, I think the girl who got upset after you went out with someone else was very confused and didn't even know what she wanted herself. Without knowing all she sounds a little self-centered and selfish.
