I was walking down Lenox Avenue one day, past this one particular corner, I believe it was 130th Street. Anyway ... it was a distinct smell in the air as I was walking past. I knew what I thought it smelled like ... but obviously, it couldn't have been what it smelled like, because ... how ... just how could it be so strong.

To my surprise ... a group of 3 young ladies (and calling them LADIES after what I'm about to say is an over-statement) ... I think anyway... they walked past me and one shouted to her girlfriend, "Damn it smells like fresh nutt" ... "You know, when it first comes out."

I swear I liked to have fell out laughing inside ... because I knew that, that was INDEED what it smelled like. But what puzzled me was, why is these young ladies familiar with that smell? They looked as if they couldn't have been a day over 16.

And for any man reading this ... you know what FRESH NUTT smells like. I swear to GOD is was GAGGING!!!!!

hmmm... I guess I don't get the funny part. must be something specific to certain areas, because I don't know what fresh nut is. and if it's sexual it's just another degrading sign of the black community to know about smells than their own history and direction they're heading in.

The smell of "Fresh Nutt" ... is that distinct scent of "come" after a man has an orgasm. Why does a 16 year old girl know what that smells like?

yeah that's what also makes it not funny, young lady or not. it's just degrading and disrepectful to others who also may have been passing.

trying to picture Dr. King, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, or Ghandi passing a conversation like that

I totally agree with you. But the thing is ... it really did smell like that tho Tam. I was really tripping that they knew what it smelled like. You have no idea.

in NYC, really hard to smell anything specific with the combo of piss, shit, vomit, alcohol, foul body odor, too much perfume/cologne, dead animals, trash, and other things in so many areas, including subways.

but that's what makes NYC, NYC...
