well hey, betrayal can do that to a person. nothing like waking up to a life that was filled with lies.

given I know of people who run game daily on folks for their own financial game, no telling what things were said to Terry for access to the U.S. for his benefit. if he had any kind of integrity, this situation wouldn't have unfolded like this.

and she's got her assets to protect, assets she worked for, not him. :sigh:

I think females are giving Terry too much credit, and making this appear that this is the young man's fault. First of all he was young when she met him. And even if he had thoughts, and was curious about his own sexuality, that had nothing to do with it at all. He did not know who she was when she met him, so therefore, he didn't bed her to gain access to the United States. She sent for him, after they had communicated via postal mail back and forth. He told her that he couldn't come visit her because, #1 he had no funds to do so, and #2, if he was to leave to visit the U.S. ... when he returned home he would not have the job he waited so long to acquire. Terry told him and his parents that she would take care of him, and also gave them money. She did all this, while first capitalizing off of their romance ... in "How Stella got her groove back" then went one to make even more millions off of the movie ... and honestly I think she KNEW he may be either gay ... or I should say, she didn't expect to spend the rest of her life with him anyway. Why else would she REFUSE to say, "Till death do us part" in their wedding vows. She forced him to sign a pre-nup that 1 he didn't understand, and he had to listen to advice from a lawyer SHE paid for. He knew if he didn't sign it, and get married to her, he would be deported and sent back home with no money, and no job ... ALLLLLL because of her antics. She controlled him, and she needs to pay him.

If I were in a relationship with a woman like that ... I think I'd turn to homosexuality as well. She's a bitter old hag, and she deserves to be punished.

She's now capitalizing by writing yet another book about an issue she knows society is thoroughly interested into getting to the bottom of. This is a mess, and I have NO respect for her at all. And should I ever see her in person, I will tell her exactly how I feel. She's a mess and a bitter old woman, who took advantage of a young boy. And that's not fair.

1 Corinthians Chapt. 13 -- thus why many, including yourself, should NOT venture into SERIOUS committed relationships!
END OF STORY!

No darling ... you are now passing judgement. And that you don't have power to do. Show me where JESUS said ANYTHING about homosexuality upon his return after death. NOWHERE.

You can't speak about me not ever being in a committed and serious relationship, because I was IN LOVE with my daughter's mother, and I was doing EVERYTHING in my power to be with her, and only her. It wasn't until after I seperated from her that I chose to LIVE this lifestyle. Like I said, let GOD be the judge. Judge not, or you will be judged. GOD has not given you power to do so.

Look into a mirror, and you make sure you know who YOU are looking at, as do I when I look into one. THANK YOU!

listen DAHLING! you're talking about what you would do to Terry if you were married to her: spiteful things. LOVE IS NOT SPITEFUL. thus why you nor anyone with those traits should enter into a committed relationship.

if you READ 1 Corinthians Chap. 13 you would understand that many straight or gay don't enter into relationships for the right reasons or begin to exhibit traits completely opposite of love -- which is continually honest and *respectful* towards all involved in every situation.

what sane working semi-rich woman in this day and age NOT make *ANY* man, straight or gay sign a pre-nup?

what sane woman in this day and age expects to be with the same person for the rest of their life? you only know the real person from getting to know them on a day to day basis. until their true self comes out of the literal closet in this case, you have to be wise and protect yourself and assets in this day and age. people have all sorts of game and hidden issues and more. some people have teams to run games on folks.

You all are not grasping the FACT that John was not the only person involved in the beginning of this relationship. He was merely a resort worker, who agreed to show Terry around the island. As a young man, capable of loving another being, he showed her a time she wouldn't forget. At the moment I can't remember whether or not they bedded each other during the first trip or not. I do know that Terry began writing letters to him, asking him to come to The United States with her. She started this, not him. I'm not going to get into a long drawn out argument with anyone on this board about this situation, because I can't stand when people only see things one way. You are trying to place blame on him, because you feel that he KNEW he was GAY, and that's not fair.

That's like telling me that I was wrong to have a child with my daughter's mother, when I was INDEED in LOVE with her, and wished to spend the rest of my life with her. I made many LIFE-CHANGING decisions on the thought that she wanted to be with me as well. Which I found not to be the case afterwards.

Gingie, don't mis-interpret what I said when I stated, "If I were in a relationship with a woman like that ... I think I'd turn to homosexuality as well. She's a bitter old hag, and she deserves to be punished." What I was saying is ... If I was in a relationship with a woman who was abusing me, as Terry was abusing him, I'd probably be inclined to stray away from women as well. He loved her, and he made a change to be with her.

I'm done with this topic, unless you can open your closed mind.

Tam ... I didn't say that a pre-nup wasn't in order, but writing out "Til death do us part" ... WTF kinda shit is that?

it sounds more like you're trying to use this issue to work out your own similar issues.

showing someone around an island doesn't entitle him to all of Terry McMillan's assets.
dating someone doesn't entitle him to all of Terry McMillan's assets.
visiting someone doesn't entitle him to any or ALL of Terry McMillan's assets
living with Terry didn't entitle him to any or ALL of Terry McMillan's assets.

a relationship is just that -- something between two people who are supposed to be honest and up front with each other at all times, otherwise, they're not really showing respect for each other, but just carrying on an immature game that someone will have to pay the price for in the end.

and I think I answered the writing out til death do us part because again she wanted to protect herself. she didn't know this boy/man/whatever he was, but she wanted to enter into a relationship with him, not pay for it for the rest of her life because it failed. she had a child, a home and a future for HER CHILD to think about. she certainly didn't slave away yearly to take care of some confused boy/man for the rest of his life.

She benefited by using his name ... she's going to pay him. Period.
