NYPD Officer In Taser Death Kills Himself

NEW YORK - The New York City police commander who authorized the use of a Taser stun gun on a distraught, naked Brooklyn man who fell to
his death has killed himself, police sources told News 4 New York.
The lieutenant committed suicide at Floyd Bennett Field Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, the lieutenant said he was "truly sorry for what happened" to Iman Morales, who was stunned with the Taser as he teetered on a building's ledge. The 50,000-volt shock caused him to topple 10 feet, headfirst, into a sidewalk. He suffered fatal injuries.
The lieutenant was stripped of his gun and badge after the incident last week, and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly ordered refresher training on how to deal with emotionally disturbed people.
see this is what happens when a "they're out to kill us, while we ignore crime in our own neighborhood" mob starts zeroing in someone who didn't have malice in his heart. what now, a mental illness group for NYPD to respond to calls like this? there's no telling what the naked man would have done to himself or others. and given the general mentality of this crowd, if the man had jumped to his death, the crowd still would have complained about "not enough being done"
