Was watching the History Channel the other day and come to find out the REPUBLICAN party was started to free slaves. The group that today seems to be the most racist( in a sneaky sort of way) was created to free our distant relatives. And the party we will march to hell and back for didn't even want to lose the income blacks brought in. Makes you think doesn't it.

yeah this I've known for a long time. sad huh?

the person who wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, William Seward (Republican), who doesn't even get recognition for it, also ran the Underground Railroad with Harriet Tubman. they were long time friends. Seward even gave Tubman her home which is 2 blocks from his in Auburn NY. both homes are still there.

Seward was governor of NY, ran against Lincoln as a republican and lost, but was appointed Lincoln's secretary of state. Lincoln just added bywords to the emancipation proclamation, he didn't pen it.

this failure to teach this in schools speaks directly to the lies about Lincoln's death and history towards blacks. on the same nite Lincoln was assassinated, Seward was stabbed in the throat by a member of the same group associated w/John Wilkes Booth. the day after the assassination was the day Lincoln was to sign a voting rights acts for blacks!

for Lincoln's assassination and Seward's attempted assassination, 6 people were put to death, including the first female executed, surprisingly by Andrew Johnson because Johnson sided with white slave owners and reversed land deals for blacks on behalf of slave owners. under his leadership the Klan became the new rulers of the south, lynchings flourished w/out one congressional law to protect blacks or their "freedom", and Jim Crow became LAW.

whites who tried to change things on behalf of blacks were killed, property destroyed w/assets seized, or if lucky just run out of town, sparing their life.

thank goodness for Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Dr. King and ALL those unnamed heroes who risked their lives during the civil rights movement - like the one in this pic. no telling where we'd be.

OK how about I know her personally. My parents are from Birmingham and were active in the Civil Rights movement. She is a friend of my mom. My mom was actually one of the kids that were hosed she laughs cause she can point out people that she knows and where she was during black history videos.

OMG really? I admire these people so much. their strength, dignity and self-respect while going through so much nonsense.

tell her for me and I will always keep each and everyone, famous and unknown, in my heart forever. because I can't imagine life w/out them.

one day I was just pecking away at the keyboard and wrote a little poem while feeling sad after seeing a story on news. it actually started out as so sad, so blue

this ain't a poem, just words from the heart.

yes it's true
how about you
what will you do

so tired and uninspired
if I speak, will it be a leak
if I'm quiet, will it stop a riot

if I hope, will it help others cope
if I forget, will I quit

quit thinking about those who came before
who bore and bore and bore
until they were sore and couldn't take no more

what gave them their strength
that seemed to never have a length
what made that spark in their eyes
to always keep their eyes on the prize

do they know I think about them
do they care that I think about them
do they know I'll always admire and love them

what do they think about us
will they scream, shout or cuss

are we doing enough
are we just giving enough
when will it be enough

especially when times are so rough
