oh gawd, let's not dredge up those nightmares. but here I go
but stupidity paid the bills. these people are also the reason why tech support has been outsourced overseas and real support stays in the U.S. companies figure you're not going to spend all my money because you can't read. and they log those calls and add up how many could have been resolved by reading the friggin' manual, in many cases PAGE 1 or the quick help guide that could even be plastered on front of computer! over 75% in most cases. that costs companies money to sit and be someone's seeing eye dog!
the calls that kill me are the ones where I know someone is boldly lying and all the evidence just falls in to confirm as the story goes on.
I had someone claim their puter was hacked. turned out they deleted their files as there was a record of it. and then other factors come in such as my boyfriend and I got into a fight and then my files were gone.
there are two worlds: those who don't know that puters are not ghosts playing games but do specific tasks based upon THEIR own actions or lack of (maintenance), and people who try to avoid these people like the plague
the other 3 out of 4 calls that I learned to master in support: "It's not working". response: "Yes it is". sometimes I wish I could just hang up right after that, but I know it's coming: "But I haven't told you what's not working" NO SHIT!
but I blame Microsoft because it's pathetic when people don't know simple terms like "button", url/web address link or window name and sit on computer all day. there's no required basic info given to users. but this is shit they see everyday and can't find. and these are the people spammers and terrorists will leech onto to wreak havoc because they just happy click anything and accept anything submitted to them.

and damn they love them some porn huh?
I set up new email alias addresses for specific people recently. I now know who's porn browsing and buying illegal stuff online because of the mail I get on a specific address that could only have been phished from a happy clicker's computer.
or they fail to even look at the menus - they think the menus are for support to use when THEY have a RTFM problem like "how do I print?"
when a person buys an Apple they're given "get started info" so they learn things like "menu", "window" and "button"
