Yeah, I did have a few people like that come into my life...but there was this one person, in particular, who really took the cake. Lemme explain...and grab a seat, cause this is gonna be a long one
I hate to say this, but most of the people that have come into my life weren't really looking for friendship, or just blatently lied to my face and talked behind my back...and when I used to work for a particular retail store which I won't name here, I found this to be especially true, because I had a good friend who told me everything that the others would say about me...mostly bad things. I believe that he was right, for the most part, but now I really don't know...because this same person had this idea that we should uproot and move to another city, Seattle specifically...him, his brother, and myself. I know I know..."Your crazy right? Why would you do that halfway through school?" But honestly, I hate this city. You all know that. And my hatred was enough to roll the dice and take a chance.
Of course, my parents were against it, but they supported me anyway, because they knew it was something I was going to do regardless. So, we did the research, found a place to stay, even got approved for transfers to another store in the new city we were moving to for said retail chain. But then, something happened...we were all supposed to sign the lease together, but when my friend moved out ahead of us, he couldn't take the temporary situation he was in (Which I don't blame him...the girl he was staying with and her friends did some crazy stuff; i.e. drugs and such) so HE signed the lease and moved in. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. (But now I'm thankful.) So, we went ahead and moved, but now we had to be secretive (Because of the lease thing) and we were struggling...it was a LOT to get used to, but we survived.
At least, until one of our neutral friends decided that he wanted to pay us a visit. Keep in mind that my friend's brother, at this point, JUST started working, and we didn't exactly have alot of money for food, since it was being split only 2 ways for 3 people. So, of course I was against it, but it didn't matter. He came anyway. Of course, my friend was only trying to be hospitable, but I wanted the last chicken pattie (There were like three left) and he tried to TELL me that I couldn't have it...that our freeloading GUEST should take it, even though I helped PAY for that food

And that, was the last straw, we got into it, and I almost left that very same night...but I stayed, and things became very strained. I was thinking about finding a place of my own...and heres the thing that really shocked me, when I told my 'friend' and now roommate that I was thinking about getting a place of my own so that future arguments could be avoided,
he discouraged me, saying that I should wait until the lease runs out because its only fair, even though HE made the decision to sign it on his own. That raised questions about whether or not he just had his own intentions in mind, and it took a trip home to realize that I needed to move back. So, I moved out, without so much as a word, and drove back to Ohio.
Honestly, I don't really know what his deal was, if he really considered me a friend or just another 'body' to pay the rent. He could've been feeding me lies from the very start, making this city seem worse than it really is...but I will admit, the people on that job were asses, and I really DON'T like it here, I don't like the school I'm going to (Thankful I get out this semester), and the school that I applied to out there was GREAT, lots of opportunities were there, more than I ever could've imagined here...but I just knew something wasn't right. Plus, the ironic part is that I finally got a letter from the school I was planning on attending and they couldn't enroll me that coming semester because they were full...the only nice thing about living out there was it was a great city, and my job paid good money, since I got a 'promotion' of sorts when I transferred
Overall, I just consider it a learning experience, I learned alot from it, have grown stronger from it, and I know now to never, ever, jump into a situation like that head first again...even though it didn't EXACTLY happen that way. And if I didn't go through with it, I probably would've always wondered 'what if'. I don't even really consider it a mistake to be honest...I'm just lucky I still had a safety net... Fortunately I was able to cut my losses, and I was smart enough to apply for financial aid at my old (current) school just in case, and I was still able to register for classes and such for Fall 04.
This is why I'm so apprehensive when it comes to meeting new people...I don't trust ANYONE anymore, and sometimes it gets in the way, because its hard to get past that outer wall...its like an automated defensive system to stop those kinds of people from even getting within 10 feet of me.
Sorry for the long

but I didn't ask the question!
